The candidates
We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute to their neighbourhood and that democracy is fundamentally about people being in control of where they live. Change for Plymouth’s independent candidates are ordinary people with a wide range of views, and a shared commitment to doing the best they can for their local area and the wider city. Unlike national party members (Conservative, Labour) who are subject to their party’s ‘whip’ on many issues, independent candidates are free to reflect the needs of the communities they come from. Changing local politics in a city like Plymouth is a big challenge and there’s lots of work to do! Change for Plymouth is open to everyone and always welcomes new faces. If you’re curious about being part of the change there are a range of ways to get involved whether it’s dipping a toe in the water, or diving right in.
